The LOSC Philosophy

Established in 1974, Lake Oswego SC has evolved into Oregon’s oldest and largest soccer club.  With over 2,500 players involved in our programs we now cater to every level of player from the beginner to the collegiate bound players striving to make the professional levels.  It is undoubted that we are one of Oregon’s most comprehensive soccer clubs.

Player Development – LOSC is committed to player development.  We communicate to our members that in order for player development to occur there must be a commitment from the club, the coaches, the parents, and the players.

The rest is simple.  We strive to create an environment where players can push themselves, make mistakes without fear of criticism, develop in the process, and flourish into fine young soccer players and more importantly, fine upstanding members of their local communities.

With arguably Oregon’s finest coaching staff we constantly develop players at all levels.  Every year we have open tryouts to form Classic level teams.  We form these teams based on ability in order to place individuals in the most appropriate environment to ensure maximal development.  Where numbers allow, we form A teams, B teams, and C teams.  Once they are formed the teams are given names and they move forward.  Every player is provided the opportunity to develop his or her skills in a fun and positive setting.  As a club we are committed to every player and we stress that the potential for individual player development is only limited by the amount of time an individual is willing to commit to improvement of their skills.

In order to expose our players to collegiate playing opportunities our teams regularly compete in these prestigious college showcase tournaments: President’s Day (Phoenix, AZ), Surf Cup (San Diego, CA), Nomads Showcase (San Diego, CA), Las Vegas Showcase (Las Vegas, NV), Disney Showcase (Orlando, FL), Toyota College Classic (CA), Adidas Final Four Showcase (TX), and the NW Showcase of Champions (WA).  Specific tournament attendance depends on the individual team but we do ensure that players are given an opportunity to showcase their talents on the National, Regional, and Local level.  Each year as a result of our college placement program we send athletes to every level of school.
